Nyepi!

The 21 of March we celebrated Nyepi  (silent day) in Bali. It’s a day of totally silent were everyone in Bali have to stay indoors with no electricity or activities. Nyepi is a day reserved for self-reflection, and Hindu New Year. Another part of the celebration is the ogoh-ogoh. The children in Denpasar didn’t make an ogoh-ogoh this year but we still celebrated with the community.
Barb with family came to visit us before Nyepi and donated plenty of food. Thank you so much!

YKPA lately!

Yuli was still in the hospital the first week in March to get better. Everything is healing just as it should. The other kids at YKPA have been able to visit her and give her some company but we are happy to let you know that Yuli is now back at YKPA, and she is happy! Now it is Alfreds turn, he was in the hospital this week to get his leg fixed.

Heather our new computer and swimming teacher brought some pictures from swimming the children had the week before, so that they were able to edit and play around with.

We have changed day for swimming lesson, so on Mondays the kids head out together with Heather and they play around in the pool!

This time all of the children were able to come, except for Yuli and Alfred who are still recovering from their surgery.

We had English class with our lovely volunteer Lisa from Ireland who came and helped out when we talked about different words. The kids tried to explain the word and they also put together sentences with one of the word we used or more.

New children has arrived to YKPA, and joined us for English class, the other children are helping them to communicate. On Friday we had English class and some of them participated while some were watching cerfully. At the end we had a game, they split up in 2 teams - Giordan and Jasmine. This week team Jasmine won!

Last week at YKPA!

Our girl Yuli from Sumba got her operation done finally, so her leg is getting better and can heal properly.

The kids from both Tabanan and Denpasar were invited to BCAC, International School of Cairo to create art together with the students who was guiding them. We got to learn some skills from the students and they passed on what they have learned during their time in BCAC.

We had English class all together in Denpasar on Friday, starting next week we will have two groups, one for the younger children and one for the older children.

On Saturday four of our kids went to the local swimmingpool together with their new volunteer Heather from America, she took some great photos with her underwater camera. We will be able to show you some of them next week.

Heather is also helping out every Tuesday, starting next week, with computer class. The kids are very excited and since we got many computer donated from Australia a while ago we can get right to it!

Total is $600, The monthly fees are already provided for. Please do help them with the start up fees for a better future!
